Family fun day at Padworth Recycling Centre

Come along to our next open day at Padworth Recycling Centre.

2017 - Padworth Recycling Centre - Open Day

Have you ever wondered what happens to your recycling once your boxes, bags and bin are emptied? Or imagined what it would be like to sit on the driver's seat of a rubbish truck?

To find out, join us at our free family fun day on Saturday 30 September and learn first-hand how waste in West Berkshire is recycled.

Padworth Recycling Centre will be open from 10am - 4pm with plenty of entertainment taking place throughout the day. Children will be able to explore trucks and sweepers up close, get creative in our recycled art workshops, as well as discovering about recycling in our interactive education room.

Following on from the success of last year's open day we will be running behind the scene virtual tours of the facility where staff will be on hand to answer questions and offer advice on waste.

There will also be live cookery demonstrations with lots of great tips and advice on dealing with leftover food.

The open day will be part of national Recycling Week celebrations and we will be running a colouring competition with great prizes, as well as free goodies bags for visitors.

Councillor Dominic Boeck, Executive Member for Environmental Protection said: "It's great to be throwing open the doors to Padworth Recycling Centre once again. This is a fantastic opportunity to go behind the scenes and find out more about the journey your recycling takes after it has left the kerbside. It's a fun event, particularly for children and families, and I encourage everyone to come along to the open day."
