Jet Red and Kennections app ready for take off

Reading Buses, working in partnership with West Berkshire Council, have officially launched a new mobile app on the 'Kennections' local bus routes serving Newbury, Thatcham and the surrounding area.

2017 - Reading Jet Red Bus promoting the new Kennections App

Issued on: 28 June 2017.

The Kennections app allows customers to:

Plan journeys on Kennections bus routes;
Buy tickets using their mobile;
Track their Kennections bus; and
Get live service updates

The new app is free to download from your mobile app store for Apple or Android phones, just search 'Kennections', or visit the Reading Buses web page.

A Jet Red-branded bus had a starring role at the Thatcham Family Fun Day at Henwick Field on Sunday 25 June.  The distinctively branded bus and event team helped raise awareness locally of the Kennections app and the high-quality Jet Red routes which, together with the established Jet Black route 1, deliver a bus service up to every 15 minutes between Thatcham Broadway and Newbury. The Jet Red and Jet Black routes also feature free Wi-Fi on board.

"We are encouraging everyone to download the Kennections app so that they never have to wait at a bus stop again." said Jake Osman, Reading Buses' Marketing and Communications Manager.

"The app allows customers to buy tickets in advance, track their bus and favourite their home stops so they can always be sure when their bus will arrive."

Customers can also take advantage of contactless bank card payment now available right across the Kennections and Reading Buses networks, reducing the need to carry cash and making it even easier for residents across West Berkshire to use Kennections and Reading Buses for some or all of their journeys.

Commenting on the enhancements, Mark Edwards, West Berkshire Council's Head of Transport said: "I very much welcome the investments being made by Reading Buses to introduce the new app and contactless payment on the 'Kennections' network, complementing the company's new Jet Red and established Jet Black routes, and the progressive investments by the Council in updated customer facilities and information.  This will undoubtedly help make the Kennections and Reading Buses services an even more attractive option for travel to work, school, leisure and shopping."
