Support Walnut Close with Waitrose Green Tokens!

Walnut Close care home has been selected for February's 'Community Matters' scheme at Waitrose, Thatcham.

Waitrose Community Matters Green Token Scheme

Issued on: 17 February 2017

Walnut Close is a residential care home that offers 24 hour support to vulnerable residents with varying needs from dementia to physical frailty.  They are looking for a financial boost to improve the garden space at the home.

Carla Kell, Manager at Walnut Close said, "Our residents enjoy spending time in the garden and growing their own vegetables and plants.  If we're lucky enough to get the most Waitrose tokens this month, we would put the cash to very good use by revamping our garden to make it more user friendly so that our residents can enjoy more time there and hopefully even throw some garden parties in the summer. We're hoping that local people will support us by giving their green tokens to our project.  "

Since its launch in 2008, the Waitrose Community Matters Scheme has donated £14 million to local charities chosen by Waitrose customers.

At the end of your shop in any Waitrose branch, you'll receive a token to place in a box of the good cause you'd most like to support. The more tokens a cause gets, the bigger the donation they receive. Each month every Waitrose branch donates £1,000 between 3 local good causes.
