Caring for your child's teeth

Child-friendly Dentist Scheme

To help increase and improve the access that parents and families have to dental services, we've partnered with the Berkshire Local Dental Committee to develop a Child-friendly Dentist Scheme.

The scheme identifies and promotes dental practices in West Berkshire that welcome children, and makes their visits fun and as trauma-free as possible.  These practices are signed up to the pdf icon Brushing for Life [512kb] initiative, which aims to establish life-long habits of good oral health from an early age.

Staff at these practices can provide advice and support on diet and tooth cleaning to help reduce the risk of dental problems, while children are introduced to visiting the dentist in a gentle way.

An important part of making sure your child has good oral health is visiting the dentist regularly.   It's best to make their first visit early, even before any teeth have erupted.  NHS Choices has more information on how you can take care of your child's teeth.
