Public Path Order: to extinguish parts of Burghfield public footpaths 2 and 22

Proposals to remove part of the public footpath running south west of Searle's Farm Cottages, Burghfield and part of the public footpath on the western edge of Cottage Lane, Burghfield

This consultation is now closed.

You can view the pdf icon Notices, Orders and Order Plans [2Mb] for these two Public Path Orders, which include:

  • Extinguishment Order for part of public footpath Burghfield 2

  • Extinguishment Order for part of public footpath Burghfield 22

One (public footpath Burghfield 2) is a cul-de-sac that runs to Searle's Farm, and the other is a cul-de-sac that runs almost entirely across what is now a lake lying west of Cottage Lane. These remnants of the public footpath network are leftover from changes to the landscape made in the late 1950s/early 1960s before mineral extraction took place, and before the creation of the lakes that now cover much of the land. The original continuation routes of the public footpaths to be removed were legally removed when the mineral extraction took place, but left these two cul-de-sac footpaths.
