[ARCHIVED] Budget Proposal 2016/17 - Phase One: Kintbury Jubilee Leisure Centre

Part of the range of West Berkshire Council's budget proposals for 2016/17, with supporting information and Equality Impact Assessments

If you haven't already seen our video explaining why these changes are being proposed, please visit our Budget Proposals 2016/17 webpage.

The council currently provides a grant of £9,000 to Kintbury Parish Council to assist with the operation of the Jubilee Leisure Centre, Kintbury. This is the only non-West Berkshire Council leisure centre that is given any funding by the council.

To cease the grant of £9,000 with effect from April 2016.

What do we think the impact will be?

The Parish Council will need to fund the gap created by the removal of this grant or consider the viability of continuing to operate the centre.

2015 data shows that of those residents from Kintbury that made use of a leisure facility, 20% used the Jubilee Centre whilst, 75% visited the leisure centres in either Hungerford or Newbury and 5% visited elsewhere.

What else have we considered in arriving at our proposal?

There is no other option for reducing this expenditure.
