West Berkshire Council

Support With Confidence - Registered Care Providers

How the scheme works

The Support with Confidence Scheme, which is managed by the Public Protection Partnership (working with Wokingham and West Berkshire Adult Social Care Teams), is designed to raise standards and provide assurance in the adult social care sector, particularly for self-employed providers that fall outside of the Care Quality Commission regulatory framework.

To be accepted onto the scheme, all members have to undergo the following checks:

  • DBS
  • The right to live and work in the UK
  • Registration with HMRC in order to pay tax
  • Financial and complaints

We also check:

  • Driving licence and motor insurance (if car is used for business purposes)
  • Public liability insurance
  • Client/employer feedback or character reference
  • Safeguarding concerns from the Council Safeguarding and Quality Assurance Teams
  • That training is up to date (based on the national Care Certificate)

These checks are redone every year.
