West Berkshire Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment (PNA)

PNAs are used to judge which services need to be provided by local pharmacies

Pharmaceutical Needs Assessments (PNAs) are used by the NHS, the Public Health and Wellbeing Team and partners, to see what services are currently available and to help make decisions on which services need to be provided by local community pharmacies. These services are part of the local healthcare provision, which affects NHS budgets.

Each Health and Wellbeing Board must, in accordance with Department of Health regulations:

  • assess needs for pharmaceutical services in its area
  • publish a statement of its first assessment and of any revised assessments
