Delay to the preparation of the West Berkshire Local Plan Review

Written on: 19-8-2021

The Government announced changes to the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) on 20 July 2021 without notice. These changes have significant implications for the West Berkshire Local Plan Review to 2037. The Council has sought independent legal advice and it is clear that additional work will be needed to support the new requirements contained within the NPPF. Consequently, there will be a delay to the preparation of the LPR.

Further details about the delay can be found in a press release that was issued on 18 August 2021.

We are reviewing our Local Plan to cover the period to 2037. A consultation was held on the emerging draft Local Plan Review (LPR) between 11 December 2020 and 5 February 2021. All responses received are being considered and will help inform the draft version of the LPR, which we hope to publish in summer 2021.

A large volume of responses to the consultation were received and are still being processed. Those responses submitted via the Council's Local Plan Consultation Portal will shortly be available to view on the portal. Responses received via email and letter will be published on the portal in the coming weeks until all are available.
