West Berkshire Council

Celebrating local heroes

During the COVID-19 pandemic we have seen people across the district in West Berkshire generously giving up their time, money and skills to volunteer out in the community. Businesses, community groups and residents have gone beyond their call of duty and joined forces to ensure the district's elderly and most vulnerable residents have access to food, medication and other supplies during this emergency. Here we share highlights of the wonderful efforts of the community.

We want to highlight the positive stories around how the council and your local heroes are helping out in the local communities, no matter how big or small the gesture. Below you can read some of the lovely feedback and compliments that have been received.

    Meet the volunteers

We would love to meet as many of you as possible! If you would like to introduce yourself and talk to us about what you are doing in the community, please email PR@westberks.gov.uk with your video and the subject 'Meet The Volunteers'

Kindness is keeping us all together in these challenging times and we want to celebrate this with you. If you have a message of thanks or a good news story about the work taking place in your community, why not tell us about it? Use the hashtags #WBCommunityLove and #WestBerksCommunity and tag us in on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook so that we can share your messages of community minded actions. You can also email PR@westberks.gov.uk with your message, video or picture and your story.

We have also set up a Community Support Hub Facebook page for volunteers across West Berkshire, whether they are part of an established community group or just helping neighbours, family or friends during this difficult time. Please like and follow the Facebook page to receive regular updates.
