Children looking for something to do this holidays can take part in a Summer Writing Challenge and stand a chance of winning an Amazon Kindle, a bundle of books or book vouchers.

The competition, which is being run by West Berkshire Council, is open to children aged between five and 11 and runs until Friday 25th September. Children need to complete 15 fun writing challenges including:

  • Designing a poster featuring three ways to be kind to others,

  • Writing a silly story about a talking animal

Pupils aged five to seven (Years 1 and 2) could win a £50 book bundle and pupils aged seven to 11 could win an Amazon Kindle. There are also £10 book vouchers for the five runners up in each category.

Encouraging children to take part in the competition Councillor Dominic Boeck, Executive Member for Children and Young People said:

"This challenge will help keep kids occupied over the summer whilst unleashing their creativity on a series of fun and imaginative tasks. Good luck to everyone taking part!"
