This Saturday, 1 December, we'll be marking Small Business Saturday 2018 with a minibus tour of some of the district's small businesses.

Small Business Saturday is a grassroots national campaign day aimed at celebrating the importance of small businesses to the economy. It was launched in 2013 and has since garnered support from high profile figures including the Prime Minister, the Mayor of London and Baroness Karen Brady.

West Berkshire's Economic Development Team has arranged for senior members and council officers, including the Leader and the Deputy Leader of the Council, to visit some of the area's leading small businesses to highlight their role in the local economy.

Starting in Newbury with visits to The Newbury pub, Inn at Home, B The Lifestyle Shop and the Ugly Duckling, the delegation will make their way around the district to businesses including The West Berkshire Brewery, Theale Wellbeing Centre, Lambourn Gallops and Baobab in Mortimer.

Commenting on the day, Graham Jones, Leader of West Berkshire Council, said:

"We're really excited to be taking part in Small Business Saturday for the first time.

"Being 'Open for Business' is one of our key commitments as a council and getting out and about to engage with our businesses is a big part of that.

"We hope that this tour will be the first of many as we look to showcase just how much West Berkshire has to offer."
