Draft Council Strategy 2019-23

Have your say on our draft Council Strategy

Background

The Council Strategy explains what we aim to prioritise and improve over a four year period. It also sets out how we propose to achieve these improvements, as well as clarifying that our core business, the services our residents expect us to provide eg, emptying bins, fixing potholes, safeguarding vulnerable children, providing care for older people, will continue to be delivered.

Why do we need a new strategy?

The Council Strategy is produced every four years to align with the electoral cycle, and refreshed every other year. Thepdf icon current Strategy [8Mb] was adopted in 2015, so a new one is needed to cover the period 2019-23.

How did we develop our draft strategy?

In determining which areas to focus on, and prioritise for improvement, council officers and elected members reviewed and analysed our district's profile, our achievements against the previous Strategy, and the needs of our residents and businesses. They also considered the long term aspirations identified in the West Berkshire Vision 2036, and aligned the six proposed priorities for improvement to them.

Why do we want your views?

We would like to hear your views on our pdf icon draft Council Strategy 2019-23 [13Mb] in particular our proposed priorities for improvement and their associated commitments. The survey should take approximately 10 minutes to complete and your feedback will be used to shape the final Strategy, which will be approved by elected members at the Full Council meeting on 21 May 2019.

Following this meeting, a summary of the responses will be posted on this page and the final Strategy will be published on our Strategy and Performance webpage.
