Coronavirus: Births, Deaths and Marriages

Information about births, deaths and marriages during the coronavirus pandemic

Births

We are unable to do any birth registrations until we are through the current pandemic period.  You can now make a claim for child benefit or universal credit prior to the birth being registered, where you have not been able to register because of these measures.

Marriages and Civil Partnerships

Marriages and civil partnerships are no longer being undertaken in line with the Prime Ministers announcement. We don't know if the current restriction is likely to be extended but, in line with social distancing guidelines, any that can go ahead before the end of June 2020 will only take place in this district with the couple and their two witnesses present. We will review this if social distancing guidelines change.

We are unable to take any notices of marriage or civil partnership until we are through the current pandemic period.

We are not taking any new bookings for marriages or civil partnerships at the current time.

Deaths and Still Births

Please call the Register Office on 01635 279230 for details of how to register.
