What guidance is there for Early Years providers?

Early Years Service information about support and government guidance to the early years sector

If you have a suspected or confirmed case/outbreak of coronavirus please read and follow the instructions on the relevant action card:

During this time the Early Years Team are here to continue supporting families and providers as much as they can. Please contact the team on our usual email: earlyyearsservice@westberks.gov.uk, but please bear in that our responses may be delayed due to the increased workload of the team.

If you are a parent looking for childcare or a provider looking for alternatives for your families please contact the team on earlyyearsservice@westberks.gov.uk or you can search for open providers on the West Berkshire Directory.

The government has produced further guidance for Early Years Providers:

Update to Two-year Old Entitlement

The government has announced from March 2020 the eligibility for free early education places for two-year olds will be extended to families that meet the following criteria:

  • a. That they are excluded from claiming public funds as a consequence of their immigration status, or their lack of immigration status; and
  • b. They are in receipt of support under section 17 of the Children Act 1989

The children of these families will be entitled to a free place if their parents are working and meet similar income requirements to others eligible (e.g. a household income of £15,400 a year or less after tax). For full 2 year old funding criteria see the gov.uk website.
