COVID-19 Provider Information

West Berkshire Council is supporting providers of social care services across the region. Specific arrangements include provision of PPE (personal protective equipment) and additional finances where appropriate.       


Providers are asked to make use of their supply chains in the first instance for all PPE (personal protective equipment) requirements. Where this becomes untenable, we ask that providers contact the council through our covid.19.eoc@westberks.gov.uk email address. Upon receipt of queries each provider will be asked to complete a proforma that will be used in a daily panel meeting to review and allocate the locally held PPE. At the moment, access to this stock of PPE is reserved for emergency scenarios and for use in line with the prevailing Public Health advice.

PPE portal: how to order coronavirus personal protective equipment (PPE)

Additional funding

The council has a desire to ensure that social care providers are sustained throughout this period and beyond, and are currently accepting applications for additional funding. Funding is available for a range of reasons related to Covid-19. A claim request form is available from: commissioning@westberks.gov.uk.

The Central Government Furlough scheme should be used in all eligible cases.

The government has also announced targeted funding to care homes for support with infection control. West Berkshire Council's commissioning team will be in contact with care homes in our area to provide them with the relevant information.

Commisioning team

Our Commissioning team works to improve outcomes and value for money from the goods, works and services used throughout the council, which include social care services to building works, to highways repairs, IT software and catering.

We hold a variety of contracts either with single providers, through framework agreements involving multiple partners or in long-term partnership arrangements. 

We also host the Berkshire Community Equipment Store contract on behalf of six authorities and four Clinical Commissioning groups.
