Carers Strategy

Delivering and improving services for carers in West Berkshire

The pdf icon Carers Strategy [86kb] identifies a set of key priorities to help support carers in West Berkshire.

What is it for?

The strategy is intended to support carers and young carers, ensuring that services they need are available and are of a good quality. Their contribution to our communities is vital, so supporting them as much as possible in their caring role benefits everyone.

Who creates the carers strategy?

The West Berkshire Carer's Strategy Group are responsible for producing the strategy. The group, run by West Berkshire Council, includes representatives from carers organisations such as the Berkshire West Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), Berkshire Healthcare Foundation Trust, Reading and West Berkshire Carers Hub and Oxfordshire Crossroads and Carers. The Strategy Group meets quarterly - if you'd like to be involved, please get in touch with us..

They develop the strategy based on local Health Needs Assessment but they also take into account feedback from local carers groups and feedback from our annual carers survey.

An action plan is produced, based on the priorities identified in the strategy.  Progress against the action plan is reviewed and monitored by the Strategy Group.

Caring for Others Survey 2018/19

In December 2018, we invited carers to participate in the national 'Caring for Others' survey to help us understand their experiences of the services they use. The findings from this survey are used in the development of the Carers Strategy.

Results will be published once final validations have been received from the Department of Health.
