Service updates for 21 September 2020

In September 2020 students will be returning to school and college.  Many students in West Berkshire and beyond use the local public bus network to get to and from school/college, therefore there will be some changes to service provision across the network in the mornings and afternoon due to social distancing guidelines.

Some school journeys will be for students only and some other journeys will be operated by two vehicles, one for students only and the other for members of the public.  Further information on school/college travel in September 2020 can be found on the school transport page.

Changes may happen at short notice, so check with operators before you travel.

If you are still finding it difficult to travel to or from your workplace then contact West Berkshire Council's Community Support Hub on: westberksbct@westberks.gov.uk or call: 01635 503579 to ask for assistance/advice. We may be able to help.

Guidance for safer travel

The UK government has issued safer travel guidance for passengers during the COVID-19 outbreak. When queuing for your bus, and while on board, try to keep a safe distance away from other people as far as possible.

Guidance has also been issued for bus operators during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Face coverings

In England you must wear a face covering by law on public transport (and in some other public places) with some exemptions.

Advice on face coverings has been issued by West Berkshire Council. This includes information on where face coverings should be worn and provides examples of exemption cards.

Road closures and bus stop suspensions

There are still some essential utility work and highway improvement works continuing which may affect bus services.

Any updates on work that could impact West Berkshire Council contracted services will be posted on the Transport Disruption page. The Council is unable to physically close bus stops at this time.
