Review of our Statement of Licensing Policy

We'd like your views on our draft document

This consultation is closed.

The Licensing Act 2003 (section 5) requires us to review our licensing policy every five years. The statement outlines the approach of the licensing authority when making licensing decisions under the Act. The pdf icon current version [349kb]  was published on 14 December 2015.

All comments will be considered and used to help shape the final statement, which will be considered at the Full Council meeting on 6 December 2018.

What you told us

We received three responses. The comments made were mostly around further changes, rather than on the proposed amendments.

What we did

The policy was considered in great detail and a number of typographical and grammatical changes were made. Other notable amendments:
  • a reference was added to the ability of applicants to submit electronic submissions in the ‘Making an Application’ section
  • clarification was made in paragraph 6.3 that the provision of drinking water is compulsory in premises licensed to sell alcohol
  • an amendment was made to paragraph 8.6 to state that Challenge 25 was included as an age monitoring scheme, except in exceptional circumstances
  • a list of the responsible authorities was added to definitions section

A report was submitted and a decision made at the Full Council Meeting on 6 December 2018.
