Website Downtime

The main West Berkshire Council website will be affected by maintenance from midnight on Friday 15 November to Sunday 17 November 2019. You may find that some of our webpages are temporarily unavailable or slow to load.

We apologise for any inconvenience this might cause, but we'll have things back up and running normally as soon as possible.

Council Tax Banding and Charges

Your band, how much you need to pay and making a challenge

The Valuation Office Agency places every domestic property into one of eight bands. West Berkshire Council has no control over the band in which your property is placed.

You can find the band and Council Tax rate of a property by using our Check Your Council Tax page. Alternatively, you can find banding charges for all parishes and towns in the West Berkshire area in our excel icon Council Tax Charges 2019/20 [13kb] document.

If you believe that your banding is wrong, details about how to challenge your band are explained on Gov.uk.

If you appeal you must continue to pay your Council Tax in the meantime. If your appeal is successful you will be repaid any tax you've overpaid.
