We like to offer permanent positions after an apprenticeship, where possible, so you could be on your way to a fulfilling and successful career at the council. Sixty-six percent of staff employed as an apprentice at West Berkshire Council have gone on to become a permanent member of staff*.

Apprenticeships are available at intermediate, advanced, higher and degree levels. An apprenticeship is a great route to a fulfilling career and with so many different levels available you have the opportunity to achieve a full Bachelor's degree (level six) or even a Master's degree (level seven).

All apprenticeships are genuine jobs so you will earn a salary at the same time. We also choose to pay our apprentices the national minimum wage, rather than the minimum wage for apprentices, in recognition of their value to the council.
