World Food Day
World Food Day

On Sunday 18 November 2018, at the Riverside Community Centre in Newbury, we held our first ever World Food Day organised by Building Communities Together, Berkshire School of English and Healthwatch West Berkshire. It was a big success, there was so much food from all over the world, both homemade and donated from local restaurants. We welcomed around 70 people from different cultures, religions and nationalities to share food, connect, chat and make new friends

Chairman of the Council Carole Doerge-Jackson, opened the event and the Mayors of Newbury and Thatcham were in attendance. The Chief Executive of West Berkshire Council, Nick Carter, Chief Inspector Lindsey Finch, Head of Public Health, Matt Pearce and Building Communities Together Team manager, Susan Powell, were also there and a big thank you to them all for coming along, supporting the event and connecting with our communities.

Penny from Penny Post walked around the room with her roving microphone and camera, interviewing and chatting with lots of people and you can watch the finished film below.
