Allocating places for vulnerable and/or hard to place West Berkshire pupils

Pupil Placement Panel

West Berkshire's pdf icon Pupil Placement Panel [1Mb] (PPP) considers the circumstances of vulnerable children that have been referred to them to work out the school that should admit them, or to provide an alternative (where appropriate), following consultation. Sometimes this might include a 6-week trial at a new school (called a pdf icon Fresh Start Agreement [481kb]). The PPP publishes its  online.

In-Year Fair Access Protocol

The doc icon In-Year Fair Access Protocol [34kb] aims to provide a fair and transparent process for allocating and providing appropriate education for all vulnerable and/or hard to place West Berkshire pupils.

The Protocol applies to both primary and secondary schools, and sets out how decisions about admissions of vulnerable and/or hard to place pupils, outside of the normal admissions round, will be agreed.
It's also used to protect schools from admitting a disproportionate number of vulnerable pupils.
