West Berkshire Council has changed its customer switchboard number from 01635 42400 to 01635 551111. In order to ensure customers are able to continue accessing services with minimum disruption the old number will run alongside the new number until the end of March 2018.

Each week West Berkshire Council receives more than 2,330 phone calls to its switchboard, around half of all the calls dealt with by its Contact Centre. The customer switchboard number was introduced in April 1989 and has remained unchanged since then, however, advances in technology now require that we move to a new 6 digit number.

Local residents are increasingly choosing to access council services online. The latest data shows that this year fewer calls have been received by the council while at the same time visits to the website have increased. The council has an ongoing programme to provide more services online - allowing customers to do more at a time and place convenient to them and at the same time reducing costs for the council.

As well as providing a wide range of information and advice online it's also possible to request a host of services ranging from requesting a new bin, to cutting of overgrown hedges, grass and weeds, to telling us you've changed your name or address. These can all be accessed at www.westberks.gov.uk.
