Blue Badges (Disabled Parking)
Blue Badge disabled parking scheme
Blue Badges allow the holder (who can be a driver or a passenger) concessions when parking.
They're issued to individual applicants, but also organisations that transport disabled people.
Blue Badge holders are entitled to:
- free parking in all West Berkshire Council car parks, except Newbury Library and Newbury Central (KFC)
- free parking in the on-street areas where parking charges apply [19kb]
- up to three hours parking on yellow line restrictions, provided an obstruction is not being caused
In addition, Blue Badge holders who make regular use of the Kennet Centre or Northbrook multi-storey car parks in Newbury can apply for inclusion on the automatic number plate recognition system or apply for a transponder.
The Blue Badge scheme is governed by the Department for Transport using the Blue Badge Improvement Service [131kb], which details the eligibility criteria for Blue Badges and how the application process works.
