Care Homes and Agencies
Advice on nursing, care and residential homes
Care at Home
Where possible, we want people to be able to stay independent and receive support to stay in their own homes. The Berkshire Care Directory Spring 2017 [4Mb] contains information on providers and agencies that can help people receive care and support at home (the section on care at home is toward the back of the guide).
The Berkshire Care Directory can also be viewed in an ebook format.
West Berkshire Council also run an In-house Homecare service.
Nursing Homes, Residential Homes and Care Homes
If you're looking for information about care homes, you may find the Berkshire Care Directory Spring 2017 [4Mb] useful. This is an independent guide which is updated annually. The Social Care Info Point (SCiP) also provides information on agencies that provide home care in West Berkshire.
West Berkshire Council also run and provide three care homes.
All residential and nursing care homes, providers and agencies are monitored by the Care Quality Team.

Our Residential and Nursing Care Placement Policy for Older People [138kb] explains more about how the placement process works, where a placement is needed to meet someone's assessed needs.
