Parks, Playgrounds and Open Spaces
Information on our award-winning parks and open spaces
We aim to look after our parks, open spaces and play areas so that they are welcoming, clean, safe, attractive and accessible.
West Berkshire has two Green Flag Award winning parks:
- Northcroft and Goldwell Parks are two attractive adjoining parks in Newbury. The parks feature a mature landscape of trees, a play area and zip slide, BMX facilities, outdoor sports pitches for football and cricket, woodland walk, River Kennet and Kennet Canal links and cycle paths.
- Holybrook Linear Park is a beautiful green space in Calcot with woodland, river basin, meadow grassland, play areas, sports pitches, a basketball court and changing rooms. Linear park has an active Friends of Holybrook Linear Park group.
These parks are managed by West Berkshire Council. For more information on how we look after these locations, please see our management plans for Northcroft and Goldwell Parks [7Mb] and Holybrook Linear Park [7Mb].
Other parks are managed locally by town or parish councils.
Children's play areas
We look after many children's play areas throughout the district; you can view a list of play areas [83kb], or find their location on our online map.
If you're looking for information about a play area that isn't shown on the map or in the list, it's likely to be the responsibility of the local town or parish council.
Newbury Town Council also provide a list of playgrounds in and around Newbury on their website.
Reporting issues or problems
