[ARCHIVED] Proposed Submission Housing Site Allocations Development Plan Document

Consultation on the Proposed Submission Housing Site Allocations Development Plan Document (DPD) ran between 9 November and 24 December 2015. Officers are now processing the responses received.

The DPD sets out allocations for housing sites and sites for Gypsies, Travellers and Travelling Showpeople as well as policies to manage development in the countryside and parking standards for new residential development. It is supported by other documents which provide an explanation about the plan.

We are asking for your comments on the legal compliance and soundness of the proposals within the DPD. To be sound, the Housing Site Allocations DPD should be:

  • Positively prepared - the plan should be prepared based on a strategy which seeks to meet objectively assessed development and infrastructure requirements
  • Justified - the plan should be the most appropriate strategy, when considered against the reasonable alternatives, based on proportionate evidence
  • Effective - the plan should be deliverable over its period and based on effective working on cross-boundary strategic priorities
  • Consistent with national policy - the plan should enable the delivery of sustainable development in accordance with the National Planning Policy Framework

Hard copies of the Proposed Submission Housing Site Allocations DPD are available to view at all Libraries across the district, Southcote and Tilehurst Libraries, at the Market Street Council Offices and in the .

All comments made at the preferred options stage have been taken into account in the production of the Proposed Submission Housing Site Allocations DPD and will be submitted to the Inspector. Publication of the Proposed Submission Housing Site Allocations DPD document is a regulatory stage and any additional representations should relate specifically to the legal compliance and soundness of the document.
