Garden Waste Collection

Collecting garden and food waste in your green bin from outside your home

Most households are provided with a green "wheelie" bin that you can use to put your garden and food waste in for recycling.

You can check what you can recycle in your green bin on our pdf icon Yes/No Guide. [6Mb]

Collection

Your green bin is collected on the same day and week as your recycling, once every two weeks.  If you're not sure when your garden waste is due to be collected you can check your bin day online.
Please make sure your green bin is ready for collection by 7am on your recycling day and make sure you only put in  garden waste from our pdf icon yes list [6Mb].  Please also bear in mind that if your bin is too heavy we won't be able to collect it.

Please make sure you return your bin to your property as soon as possible after collection.

Green sacks

If you have a green sack collection you can put out a maximum of five sacks for collection at one time.  They must be left open so our crews are able to view the contents.
Please do not put food waste in these sacks - this should go in the kerbside caddy you've been provided with. Please make sure all your food waste is contained in a compostable bag.

Excess garden waste

If you have excess garden waste that you'd like to be collected, you can sign up to the chargeable Extra Green Waste Collection Service.
Alternatively you can take your excess garden waste to one of our recycling centres.

If you need a replacement green bin you can order a new one online.

Christmas Tree Collection

We'll collect real Christmas trees for recycling from the kerbside.
Please leave your tree by your green bin for collection, having removed all decorations and lights.
