Adoption of Planning Obligations SPD

The pdf icon Planning Obligations SPD [813kb] was adopted by the Council on Thursday 11 December 2014. It will apply, alongside the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL), to applications or appeals determined on or after 1 April 2015.

The Delivering Investment from Sustainable Development SPD will continue to apply to applications and appeals determined up to 1 April 2015 when it will be replaced by the Planning Obligations SPD.

The pdf icon Delivering Investment from Sustainable Development SPD [953kb] was formally adopted by the Council on 6 June 2013 and replaces our former Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG) on the topic.
The SPD applies to all planning applications or appeals considered on or after 1 July 2013.

The SPD will remain in force until the implementation of the Community Infrastructure Levy on 1 April 2015.

The SPD provides guidance to landowners, developers and West Berkshire residents. It sets out our approach and procedures for securing developer contributions from developments of one new dwelling or more, or commercial floorspace accommodating 10 or more employees based on standard employment densities.

Developer contributions will be sought, via Section 106 agreements and other statutory measures, in order to provide for additional facilities and infrastructure demands generated as a result of new development.
