Neighbourhood and Community Planning Documents
Ways for communities to influence planning
We want to encourage local communities in West Berkshire to get involved in the planning process - community-led planning documents are a good way to do this.
There are a number of different types of document that can be created by communities depending on what they would like to achieve:
- Neighbourhood Development Plans (NDP) form part of the development plan, allowing local communities to put in place planning policies for the future development and growth of their area
- Village Design Statements (VDS) are produced by the community to identify local character and set out design guidance to help guide new development
- Community Plans (also called 'Parish Plans') give local people the opportunity to engage with other residents, community groups, and service providers to set out a vision for their community - a number of Community Plans are already approved
