Premises Licensing Fees

A breakdown of various premises licensing fees

When we issue a license or permit for a certain activity, we charge a fee that is set by the government. The amount we charge varies depending on the activity.

You can view the Licensing Act 2003 for more information.

Making a payment

Payments by cheque should be made out to 'West Berkshire Council'.

You can also pay by debit card over the phone, by contacting the Licensing Team.

Bands

All premises are banded on rateable value, the fee you pay depends on the band.

If you don't know the band your premises falls in, you can enter the postcode on the Valuation Office Agency website to find out.

See the rateable values and band fees.

Green field sites and sites where construction has commenced will not have a rateable value, and are given a temporary banding until their rateable value can be established.

  • Green field sites are under Band A
  • Sites where construction has commenced are under Band C

Where premises form part of a larger premises, the rateable value of the whole premises is applied. You can find the rateable value for the premises on the Valuation Office Agency website.

Where premises form part of a site with a number of buildings, the highest rateable value will be applied.
